Renovation Fund

To renovate the tower
total cost £450,000

Welcome to the St Aloysius’ Church website. This city-centre Jesuit Catholic Church serves the Catholics in Glasgow and the West of Scotland and beyond.
The gracious gift of almighty God in the sending of his Son, what St Augustine called the Sacrament of the Incarnation, and the continuing work of the Holy Spirit in penetrating the depths of God’s love, a light that the darkness cannot overcome, leads us here to pray to the saints and worship Christ with the love of God which has been poured into our hearts.
We seek to deepen the life of all who come here with our emphasis on the vital importance of the spiritual life, outlined in the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus. The care of souls, through the sacraments, preaching and works of mercy, gives St Aloysius a unique Jesuit and catholic flavour which makes the church a haven of solace and peace in the midst of the city.
Please do browse through these pages and learn about our way of proceeding and, if you can, come and see the wonder and beauty of this church built one hundred years ago to the greater glory of God. May almighty God bless you, keep you from all evil and call you into his wonderful light.

Safeguarding: An Open Conversation

In 2013, the Bishops of Scotland tasked Rev Andrew McLellan to review Catholic safeguarding policies, procedure and practice.
In the light of The McLellan Report, in 2015, the Catholic Bishop's Conference of Scotland established The Independent Review Group (IRG), to scrutinise the progress of McLellan's recommendations in the Catholic Church in Scotland.
The IRG's first report has just been published.  It shows that a good start has been made, but that there is much still to do to ensure that safeguarding is understood as a core part of the mission of the Church.
The IRG, which is chaired by Baroness Liddell, is now wishing to meet with people to hear how they have been affected by these issues and how the Catholic Church can improve and move forward.
With this in mind, the Archdiocese of Glasgow has arrange a meeting, entitled "Safeguarding: An Open Conversation" to discuss these matters with members of the IRG.
The conversation will take place on Saturday 7th September 2019, 12–3pm, at the Archdiocesan Office 196 Clyde Street G1 4JY.  Please telephone the Safeguarding Team on 0141 226 5898 or email <>  to book a place.
More details on this are to be found in the latest issue of Flourish.

Opening Hours

The church is open every day of the week from early morning until 6.30pm, and on Sundays until 10pm.
